Four cylinder engine, the style of the bike is a direct take-off of the Henderson, Cleveland and Ace (later Indian) 4. The way he did the tank is a copy of those bike's. Beautiful work.

My late father-in-law (late wife's dad) was the kind of guy to do this, too, although the scratch built motors he made were just to be bench mounted and run for the sheer artistry of it.
