How do you know what his finances are? He already has a Domane ALR4, if he's short of cash then he should just keep it. If he's got money in the bank and can afford a SLR, it's worth it in the long run than to buy a SL and later upgrade again.

SL6 Disc is $3150/$1575 8.18kg
SL6 Pro is $3700/$1850 7.30kg
SLR 6 is $4300/$2150 6.59kg

If he can afford a SL6 Pro then the SLR6 is only $300 more. He could then upgrade the wheels at a later date.

BTW, my son raced on a Allez Comp and won. He didn't get the Madone until the end of his senior year when he was leaving the bike shop.
