Yup, that's exactly what happened with my mom.
The opposite with my mom. She was relieved to be done with him and cleaning up after him and worrying about his drinking, etc. etc. She eventually moved to Boise to be near baby brother. She lived 15 years after my dad passed. When she got sick my brother asked if she wanted to go back to LA and be buried near dad. She said no, 55 years was long enough to be with him.
