I broke the metrics on every spoken and written language test administered as a child. If it hadn’t been for school I would have read more and developed that more. School gets no credit for that. It does get considerable credit for my various mental issues, though.
I was also the kid bringing up imaginary numbers in third grade when told we can’t do square roots of negative numbers.
Most of what school gets credit for is Crispus Attucks and a few other details. It did traumatize me a great deal in many large and small ways.
And there you have the problem with aiming for the Lowest Common Denominator. Hell, even aiming for the median! You leave the folks at the right end of the curve out of it, bored and frustrated.
