Your 'ugly' bike is pretty cool! I remember a local rider would get a new racing frame, like a nice Cinelli, Masi or whatnot, then rattle spray paint it and the components in the most hideous way so that you didn't know what it was unless doing a close inspection. He said he never had his bikes stolen when 'prepped' this way! He would ride them to school, work store, etc. and not secure it while away.
