I know a guy who had an Intense full suspension bike and it had 2 or 3 cracks in the seat tube. He had them welded and it was fine. No heat treating or other special stuff. I wouldn't do it, I stop riding them when they crack.
I've got two cracked frames in my garage, including this one.
Both aren't catastrophic failures, so I have a hard time getting rid of them because I'm
cheap a bit of a hoarder of bike ****.
