The Classic and Vintage forum has a long running thread on dumpster bikes. I'm one of those people who salvage bikes from the metal pile in a fairly affluent town. Most of them go to a local charity, and there are some I keep or trade. Amazing what some people trash, and it's sad to see the employees carelessly smash up good bikes.
