Yes the shipping and likely duty is a killer. Keep in mind with current conversion rates the $24 tire at MEC is around $18 USD, so that one specifically isn't all that different than Amazon US prices.
$17.95 + $14.94 USD shipping/duties for one Continental Ultra Sport II (on one of the listings) to Canada

I notice most of the tires you listed have decimal sizes. Did you do that instead of using 1 and 1/4 or 1 and 3/8? I ask because usually sizes in decimals are for MTB tires.
More for readability - all the spaces with slashes for fractions seemed a bit messier than just using decimals
