Sean Kelly was famous for racing a very full schedule from early spring to late fall, year in and year out. Upon hearing of Kelly's pre-race abstinence, another Irish racer (Paul Kimmage? Martin Early?) commented that, "By my reckoning, that means that Kelly's wife is still a virgin!"
