The International model seemed to move up-market around this time, even used some fancy welded-and-brazed lugs for a couple of years in the mid-80's.

The wheelbase shortened and the rims narrowed, the bike became more sporty.

Somehow I took a liking to this older one, put a lot of miles on it even as I had quite a few newer and lighter/nicer bikes available and ready for the road.
