I upgraded the wheel brakes on my $130 Genesis bike with a disc brake because I liked the disc brake on the front so much. It took a bracket and two pieces of angle aluminum to mount the caliper, but ebay has calipers with enough adjustments to make it work as well as the factory front disc brake.
