I've never had cuts, but the abrasion caused by the elastic can be agonizing.
I've recently begun experimenting with going commando, and I have to say, it's
so much more comfortable on my hard-as-a-plank Brooks. I don't have bike shorts, I have Target exercise capris (below the knee) and the flat seams and crotch gusset are actually quite comfortable, no abrasion. Hurrah!
