Interesting. I would have put it as a comedy drama.
From a comedy perspective- it isnt laugh out loud funny. It has a sprinkling of humerous scenes or situations.
Even in a comedy, the characters can be believable and well rounded. They dont need to spoof themselves.
Maybe if it were made in a more recent cinematic period the style would be different and more appealing to me(though perhaps less appealing to others). Though I dont think most adults miss the cinematic style of the 40s and 50s and the more recent 25 years is more enjoyable. That was some terrible acting back then too.
