My ride near Middleburg was about 75% gravel. When you hit the pavement it feels so smooth and fast, you actually welcome the change. There is a third loop and fourth loop that can get routes up to 60-80 miles.

Agreed on the beauty of Loudon County gravel. It’s a spectacular place to ride, when it’s not hot and humid! Once out there, you owe it yourself to take the gravel road up the backside of Mt. Weather, at least if you have my masochistic tendencies (see this route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28407825). There’s also one up the Naked Mountain, but it doesn’t have quite the same leg and lung busting gradients that suddenly give way to a heavily guarded federal facility. It’s quite an experience.
