A few weeks ago I attended a Comedy Performance by local well-known comedian, Steve Sweeney of Charlestown, with a strong Irish heritage. He explained the concept of the after-life as he learned it in Parochial School in the 1960s:
Heaven was like living in Westwood (to the Norwood audience), hell was Brockton, and purgatory was like living in Everett or Malden.
