for lighter weight i wrapped 2' each of el and duct tape around the case of my tiny travel toothbrush.
Oh, and on the list of nuts and bolts... carry the most commonly lost and worst to lose (ntm hardest to replace) bolt. The cleat bolt. Best to have a spare cleat.
