Perfectly reasonable to put on a 50 mm stem, but I am of the school of thought that it's usually best to move handlebars upward and backward at the same time -- all things being equal. Thus, were it me, I'd throw on a riser bar at the same time, or maybe a high-rise stem, or even an adjustable stem.
I agree on the up and back at same time. If it were me I would just put an adjustable stem on it until I can get it dialed in, then change the stem to one that matches that position. The reason I say this is that my experience with adjustable stems is that if you stand a lot they tend to creak.
