on my 3x9 trail bike I went 1x9 wtih a wide ratio 11-40 cassette and an 32t oval, narrow wide chain ring, and I am pretty happy with it. Still ride it regularly. But it does not really compare to my 1x12 Eagle set up on my enduro bike.
