The fenders have to go. There are better, less intrusive options. The one on my Cinelli comes on and off in two seconds, so you only have to use it in case your ass will get wet or it's in full commute mode.
I'm of the opinion that fenders should either be permanently installed, or never installed. They're just too fussy to bother with putting on and taking off
