I’ve never in all of my 66+ years owned a mountain bike. But a couple of weeks ago some friends were discussing some local areas that they swear are beautiful but really require a mountain bike to get there. So I visited my friend Bill the Bike Flipper with a vintage Trek or Specialized in mind. He knows I like “unusual”, so he pulled this neon wonder from his van. It was love at first sight. One of the thumb shifters was broken but everything else looked straight and in OK shape, so it came home with me. Here it is after cleanup and the addition of Rene Herse Rat Trap Pass shoes for city riding (plus the usual replacement cabling, hub service, etc.). One of the hardest things was getting the original handlebar grips off and back on in one piece. Definitely a change from my usual randonneuse build! But fun
Thanks
