It's risky to skim over a thread and then add something at the end, because someone may already have pointed this out. But newspaper makes perfectly good toilet paper if you crumple it up and flatten it out again two or three times before you use it--it gets nice and soft when you do that.

Does it leave ink stains on your body? I never noticed.

Also, you probably shouldn't flush it down the toilet. When I lived on the hippie commune, we used to save it in a covered container in the bathroom, and burn it in the woodstove every so often. Can't remember what we did in June, July, and August, when the stove was out. I think we burned it out near the garden.

There's also a certain art to folding the paper neatly after use so the person burning it has a non-hideous experience.
