Yes, that's true. I got one a few years back - I got used to having decent power data while riding the trainer, and couldn't find a combination of pedal/crank that I liked for my outdoor bike. It was pretty cheap, so I got one. Once the novelty of the thing wore off, I sort of stopped using it. I recall that it would shut itself off if I stopped for a break, and that was annoying as well.
It is still there on the bike, and still paired to the Elemnt, but I don't bother to charge it, and it probably needs re-calibration. I have this vague recollection that it not only had a pitot tube, but also an accelerometer. It needs to be paired with a speed sensor. DC Rainmaker did all sorts of side-by-side tests - the accuracy wasn't as bad as you might think.
