For me, I'd probably be more inclined to buy the Sequoia due to it being able to run 45c tires. I'll be riding all season so I shouldn't have issues running big studded tires while still having decent clearance.
Are you sure you don't have that backwards? The Expert has a CGR seatpost with a 25mm setback, whereas the Elite does not have a setback seatpost, so they would be expected to fit differently, just opposite to the way that you described.
