Building is easy if you're not a dunce. Decide what you're going to do. Choose your CPU and maker appropriate for your use and go from there. If you have a Microcenter near you, you can get some screaming deals. If you're willing to cannibalize your current computer, you might be able to carry over a good chunk of it and just replace the motherboard, CPU, GPU and upgrade to an SSD. What's in the current machine?
Nearest Microcenter is about an hour and a quarter away. Not terrible I suppose.
