I made my own a few years ago with PVC and it worked just fine. Never had any problems with it and it held up to some 100+ pound loads. Although the rear PVC rack didn't stay on too long as it proved to be far too inadequate for anything even CLOSE to a load.....
But you get the idea for the centerstand.......
