So the plastic derailleurs on these early 70's Super Course, do they fail catastrophically leaving you sort of stranded on a ride? Or do they just shift poorly? Both?
What would be a "period correct" replacement for them? I have all sorts of derailleurs I could throw at it, but they're all off mountain bikes I have pulled out of the metal pile at the dump, so they longer cage than needed and nowhere near period correct.
