And at least around here, people will drive around in the pre-dawn gloom without their lights on, even in fog.

Interestingly, the spare in my old GTI was a real tire (either a ContiAllSeaonContact or ContiProContact) with the same outside diameter as the normal tires and wheels, but narrower (perhaps 165-185 instead of 225) Despite that, the spare wheel itself came with the typical warning about 60 miles/ 60mph.
