My opinion? If you have a good relationship with him, I don’t see the downside other than the awkwardness. The marriage may be doomed, but if the kids care about each other, neither one has an Axis II disorder, and they want to make it work, it shouldn’t go down without a sustained shot at counseling.
Pretty sure neither one have any mental health disorders, so I am hopeful they simply had a blowout fight and it can be resolved. But I don't know the details.
