I had this problem too, I don't use SPD pedals (yet) so I used regular running shoes for cycling (commuting included). I looked for a while and outdoor shoes tend to have elastic closures with a lock to adjust fit. I got a model very much like this one and no more tangled shoelaces:
You can also get silicone shoelaces from AliExpress to replace the ones you have if you want to keep using the same shoes (haven't used those myself, just quickly checked)
