I like the sound my classic King hubs make because it sounds neat, but I also like silent hubs because silence is nice.

Many hubs are louder because they have more points of engagement, so there are benefits

Edit: Now that I think about it, I have/had a few hubs with louder (than Shimano) and unique sounds that I liked for that quality. White, Mavic, Campa, and Fulcrum have nice freehub sounds IMO off the top of my head
