Like everyhting else Ed, it depends on what you spend, in general.
Good prints can be scanned on a two hundred dollar print scanner.
But a negative scanner that will do as good as you might be used to
in darkroom produced prints will cost you a pretty penny.

I would just try to find yourself a hobbyist local photographer that has a darkroom
And might do it for you for not too much.
Or maybe the local tech school if you have one up there.

I'm facing the same dilemma. I have thousands of negs. Black and white and some color.
I even have all of the darkroom stuff! Complete with enlarger and all the tanks, etc.
But that was in a past life and I just have to get rid of that stuff. Some day.
