Question, as a bike commuter in Houston : Is your bike safe when properly locked on an open business lot campus with security ? There is 3 or 4 other bike sitting at work, which is nothing for the thousands persons working there. Bike rack is not behind closed doors but definitly inside the campus, and there is security touring the place.
I bring my bike up the freight elevator and leave it in my office. Lots of buildings have designated and secure bike parking, my work doesn't so I might not be the best person to answer this question but I would say a bike parked outside is never really safe. It only takes seconds to bust a lock. That said it seems like you have a pretty secure environment. Get a good lock or ask your boss if you can park it in a storage room or something like that.
