Today I took the mtb up the mountain behind the house. It's mostly paved and gains about 2000 feet in 5 miles, 2500 feet in 7 miles with an extra out and back. There are no cars and a lot of people walk on the lower part, sometimes I see runners at the top which is impressive.
Today I took a dirt only option for the descent which ends on the property of the county hospital. There were about a dozen nurses hiking up the bottom and I asked if it was their lunch break. They said it was a walk break, an extra break beside lunch. As grim as things are at that place it seems like a great idea.
When I got down to the hospital grounds there were nurses walking all over.
