Thanks for all that. Funnily enough, I found all the same stuff during my search as well - including the Flickr page lol.
I guess its possible they just changed the style of the Hard Rock decal at some point during production because everything else about the frame is a match. So I guess we'll go with it being a '94.

It's a 7 speed currently - if i want to update to a more modern 9 speed i need to get a new wheel right? This hub will only fit a 7 speed, correct?
