I use those hooks in my garage, bikes take up less garage floor space when hanging from the ceiling. I hang mine by the wheels, the bikes are hung by the first bike being hung by the front wheel, the next by the rear etc, this way I can pack them in tighter. Alternately one could put two hooks for each bike so that the bike is completely upside down instead of head or tail standing but it's more cumbersome to do it that way because the front wheel will flop around more, and you should be on the taller end of the spectrum. The rubber stuff on the hooks is not real high quality so I covered my with thin small diameter pipe insulation.
