I've like Pearl Izumi Elite gloves. Fit well, look good, and have excellent padding. The only time I ride without gloves is to get a tan on my hands to eliminate that deeply tanned arm contrasted by glaringly white hands. But during those sunning rides, my hands always perspire a lot so the hoods are very slippery.
