For short finger gloves which I prefer to use during the summer months, I used to have a cheap pair of Fox gloves. They are starting to wear out on the palm and could not find them so I bought a pair of Pearl Izumi. I think I like the Fox the best because they have no gel or padding in the palm. The Pearl Izumis have a very thin layer of padding in the palm, but not enough to bother me. I generally find that the gel makes holding onto the handlebars for long periods uncomfortable. For full finger gloves I found that Mechanix Wear gloves are nice becuase they are fairly breathable and offer pretty good dexterity and fell through the fingers. I've had my Mechanix gloves for many years and only now are they showing signs of some wear. Time for me to splurge and spend $15 for a new pair.
