It's really quite great for loosening a freewheel by hitting the end of your adjustable wrench attached to the freewheel tool. I love that feeling on that fourth of fifth strike when the wrench doesn't just clunk unwillingly but spins around. Ahhh ... success.
I sure have. I actually have an 8lb sledge fitted to a 12" handle for stuff like that. I use a 1/2" impact driver for a lot of stuff. I've got to use caution with it. Need to be sure everything is going to spin in the correct direction, because NOTHING withstands abuse from that big feller. I've broke loose some seriously-buggered threads with that tool. Its paid for itself many times over.
