Doug, I just think that goes to show how differing people/sources have differing definitions of what one is.
From Webster's online dictionary;

Full Definition of bicycle

  1. : a vehicle with two wheels tandem, handlebars for steering, a saddle seat, and pedals by which it is propelled; also : a stationary exercise machine that resembles such a vehicle.


Note how recumbents, trikes and unicycles are excluded but a stationary exercise bike would be allowed. Note also how an e assist fits within the definition. The question is, who gets to decide what definition allows or excludes discussion.
