Oh, there is one other negative: I don't see a way to monitor the charging when the unit turns off. I have to turn the unit back on to see if the bolt is fully charged, then turn it back off till I'm ready to ride again.

When you plug the Bolt in to charge it, you should see a battery icon that shows the unit charging. Just press any button and it will show the battery icon again. If there are no blinking blocks showing in the battery icon, the Bolt is fully charged.
