The seatpost is also Avocet, forgot to add.
I believe the Avocet cranks came out around 1978, so they were added later. They were the lightest cranks available and had some popularity due to that. Ditto on the seatpost. BTW Avocet seatposts tended to snap at the head. For that matter Avocet cranks snapped sometimes too, but so did other cranks.

Real racing bikes usually went through a few components if they got used. My 78 Masi is on about its 4th or 5th crankset.
