Oh, its a very comfortable ride and for a hybrid it gives you some confidence on the trails. The Deore drivetrain shifts soooo nice.
Its equipped well for the playful terrain on the oem rubber, whereas i felt the Crosstrail and Quick CX4 i rode were trimmed with smoother rubber better for mostly road use. I put these crosscuts through plenty of river rock trails.
I test rode the Specialized Crosstrail Disc, Cannondale CX4 and Trek DS models- all lovely bikes, but when it came to Giant the Roam 2 had that 'more bike for less' appeal after my demo of it. Ultimately i was so secure in going that direction that i upsold myself to the Deore equipped model and special ordered it.
For your intended use it sounds like more than nice enough. The 2018 Roam 0 now has tubeless tires and wheels, i didn't have that option! Don't believe you would be disappointed. GL
