Many years ago I tracked all miles ridden commuting or training. Got the idea from a teacher I had as a kid. His goal was to ride 100,000 miles before he retired. At the library one day I talked to the fella and he told me that it was foolish of him to track the miles as it became an obsession and he forgot about the joy riding provided him. He also kept every book he ever read and logged them in a database by author, title, and quick overview of the book. He stopped that, too after reaching 5000 books stored in his basement and had to dispose of them when he and his wife sold the house. I stopped tracking miles that day, but I do know that I was at 20k+ and estimate I have put on another 80k+ since then. Kind of a feather in the cap to hit 100k, but in the end it is completely meaningless.
