As for the heavy steel being slower, I'd say that only partially true. While I certainly can't accelerate or sprint as I do on the carbon or alu bikes, once up to speed, this baby just moves. It's kind of like a heavy Mercedes - it may take awhile to get up to 65 mph but once there, it's takes surprisingly little energy to sustain it.

I get a kick out of describing a 22 lb. bike as heavy. My favorite steelie (Basso Gap) is 5 lbs. heavier than my Litespeed and I average 2/10 of a mph. faster on it than I do on the lighter bike. Obviously the weight isn't making much difference.
