Hmmm. I would have thought a master carpenter such as yourself would have mitered those corners , because endgrain. Likely there will be trim at the corners and I have jumped the gun (shark?)

Ha! The Master Carpenter that used pocket screws? I mitered the top because it would have bothered me, otherwise, but I wasn't gettin' too fancy. I was thinking about some trim at the corners and to break up the sides, but the wife is happy as-is and I have a lot of other stuff to do, so very back-burner.
