I'm a huge proponent of the upright riding position for non competitive riding.

Take it to the next level of comfort and find a bar that allows your wrists to angle down on the outside. The difference in wrist, shoulder, and elbow comfort is light years beyond the out/up angle. It's more natural to the way your joints are built, and IMO you feel like you have much better control of the bike.
