Let me know if I'm talking BS, but wasn't it less unusual for bikes to go off catalog spec back then? IE swapping Altenburger brakes for Weinmann if there weren't enough Weinmann calipers to go around, etc
I have three 1970 Raleigh Twenty examples at the moment. All were fitted with their original equipment when I bought them. Two came Weinmann brakesets and one came with Altenburgers.
