We recently went wider. I can't pick up a difference. I prefer narrow, primarily as it rolls the shoulders. I think power goes up with wider. Speed seems about the same.
Did not test - mostly trusting my coach's/fitter's expertise as he has a couple of very successful TT athletes. I don't pay him enough to do the repeated speed tests/adjustments that he does with his pros

It wasn't a huge difference, brought them in maybe a quarter inch on each side, nearly as close as the pads can get now, the bracket is a couple mm's away from the stem.
