Perhaps not the most graceful of solutions, but a solution none the less:
- Using a set of needle-nose pliers bend the release tab back (this is a very pliable plastic) just enough to create a small amount of space necessary between it and the strap to press it and release the strap.
- Contact Giro or go on ebay and purchase a new N-1 buckle.
- Never tighten to the tightest setting again.
N-2 Buckle, which is like finding hens teeth.
