I think between 12-15 years old I went through a massive reggae phase, which is pretty much required listening in Santa Cruz (or any other surf town). During that same time Bradley Nowell of Sublime was up there as well so you can see where he got some of that influence. I listened to Jimmy Cliff, Marley, and Peter Tosh so much I don't think I could stand it anymore. I always go through musical phases listen to it nonstop and then burn out on it.
Reggaeton has very little to do with reggae though, just that it originated in the Caribbean in poor areas. Definitely more an electronic sound.
